Quiz happy....

Kitty
You scored 67% Intelligence, 30% Sarcasm, 80% Lovability, and 36% Stubbornness!
You are the most loveable in the bunch! Your fondness for mid-day drinks and smothering mothering aside, you keep the crew happy and up and running. You love your husband and laugh away your pain like every good woman should! Way to be the perfect wife and mother! Let us also not forget to mention that even though you seem to never be fully aware of things, you actually are. You have tolerance, sensibility, humor and a beautiful sensitivity(which unfortunately, you passed along to your son) that makes everyone around you enjoy your company. And your damn fine cooking helps, too.

Ridgeback
You scored 51 variable 1!
Congratulations, you are a Rhodesian Ridgeback! This scent hound is a wonderfully powerful but dignified creature. Given its apperarence, the Ridgeback is actually quite mild, it is also however, extremely loyal and will stick firmly to its master and deter any intruders. This dog is brave, intelligent and faithful, although not always good with other dogs.

The Perfect Balance
You scored 61% Playfulness!!!
You walk hand in hand with your inner child. You are not entirely consumed by childlike wonder, but you recognize it and still enjoy it to a high degree. You take your inner child out for regular playdates, and this makes you a lot of fun to be around, if a little unpredictable to those around you. But that's okay, it keeps them on their toes! (Now rate this test if you love me! Or even if you don't hate me, that's good enough too!)

Drizzles
Your forecast: 56°F, 38 mph wind, 41% chance of precipitation
What your score means:

Please note that all variables are scaled to a range of 0 to 100. I'd like to present some of them differently, but the OkCupid system doesn't seem to allow independent scaling of variables.

Category names are not meant to be taken literally. They are only weather patterns that match your score for the three variables. A person might be classified as "hurricane" because he/she is outgoing, athletic and compassionate; it does not relate to any destructive behavior by any means.

  • Temperature measures your relationships with other fellow humans. A high temperature means you are caring and compassionate, and you tend to keep a personal touch with all your friends. A low temperature means you are more independent, and although you may like to hang out with your friends, personal life rarely enters the picture.

  • Wind measures your level of energy. A low wind says you are usually calm and composed, somewhat introverted, and perhaps do not prefer intense physical activities. A high wind says you are energetic, extroverted, and tend to lead an active lifestyle. Higher wind can also mean greater ambitions in life. In extreme cases and especially when coupled with high precipitation, high wind might suggest a tendency toward violence.

  • Precipitation measures your mood. A sunny sky, as you might guess, is associated with a bright, optimistic mood. People like this tend to be satisfied with their lives, and might take the effort to help make other people's lives better as well. A rainy sky would be the opposite: people in this category tend to be moody or depressed at times.

So, What do you think? Do the scores seem fair to you? If not, you can help make it better by sending me a message with your comments, suggestions, rants, death threats, whatever. Otherwise, your vote is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Your humor's mostly innocent and off-the-cuff, but somehow there's something slightly menacing about you. Part of your humor is making people a little uncomfortable, even if the things you say aren't themselves confrontational. You probably have a very dry delivery, or are seriously over-the-top.

Your type is the most likely to appreciate a good insult and/or broken bone and/or very very fat person dancing.

'W' Gets Its Own Place in Swedish Language Sun Apr 23, 3:20 AM ET

STOCKHOLM, Sweden - The letter 'W' has entered the mainstream of the Swedish language, getting its own section for the first time in the country's most respected dictionary.

While 'W' has long been a letter in its own right in other Nordic languages, Swedish linguists have always viewed it as a lesser sibling of the letter 'V,' as the two letters are pronounced identically in Swedish.

The few Swedish words that use 'W' have generally been borrowed from other languages — such as "watt," "walkie-talkie" and the "World Wide Web" — and have so far always been lumped under the 'V' section in dictionaries.

Sweden is called "Sverige" in Swedish and its language is named "Svenska."

But the Swedish Academy, which awards the Nobel Prize in literature and whose members are considered the guardians of the Swedish language, decided it was time for 'W' to come out of the shadows.

The letter, called "double-v" in Swedish, "can no longer be sorted in under the single V," the academy said when it introduced the 13th edition of its dictionary this week.

The change means that the Swedish language, at least according to the academy, now has 29 letters instead of 28.

And now for some quizzes....

Yes yes, as usual, it's been awhile, but I'm still here! Sniffling, sneezing and wheezing my way through the spring in NC...it's all good though. Nothing much to report...basically I've been working and working and working some more and then sometimes doing the improv thing. Well more like every weekend doing the improv thing. At least I'm not really bored!

I don't have a lot of interesting stuff to say, so I'll leave you with the results from a quiz! I found this amusing...it claims I'm emotionally unstable, I won't argue with that, so I guess watch out for me!

Big Five Word Test Results
Extroversion (41%) moderately low which suggests you are reclusive, quiet, unassertive, and secretive.
Accommodation (58%) moderately high which suggests you are, at times, overly kind natured, trusting, and helpful at the expense of your own individual development (martyr complex).
Orderliness (21%) low which suggests you are overly flexible, random, improvised, and fun seeking at the expense too often of structure, reliability, work ethic, and long term accomplishment.
Emotional Stability (41%) moderately low which suggests you are worrying, insecure, emotional, and anxious.
Inquisitiveness (67%) moderately high which suggests you are intellectual, curious, imaginative but possibly not very practical.

Don't everyone gasp at once who knows what you'll inhale!

Happy President's Day! I was cheerfully reminded by someone who shall remain nameless that I haven't updated this thing in awhile. What else is new? So hello to all!

I just whacked about a foot off my head, and my head is so much lighter it's nuts! I was feeling rather bold, and sick of my hair getting completely matted to the point where I was spending two hours on weekends detangling it. So I found a hair place and let Jessica cut it off. Below you shall see the results...it's not the greatest picture by the way....

Okay I'm really not sure if that worked, so let me check....okay it did! My hair is not longer on one side although I know it looks like it. I just had my head tilted. But there are layers in it, long ones, but layers nonetheless...that's quite a step for me. I haven't had layers in my hair since I was about 10 years old and I had the Dorothy Hamill Haircut. Here are some more pictures for your viewing enjoyment...

Does anyone have any glue???

So yeah there I am, my long locks are no more, but they will be back next winter! There was one moment while she was cutting it where I felt myself panic and I about told her to glue them back on, but I got over it. I'm going to donate it, and hopefully it will make some child very happy. It's kind of weird to think that some kid may be running around with my hair on their head...hmmm...craziness.

So what else have been doing you ask? Well not a whole lot, I've been busy, but mostly with work. I did go back to KC last week though which was exciting! I went and stayed with my friend Peggy and her family. It was like I never left, and I felt like I had to drive back to Leavenworth at night, although that would have been hard without a car. It snowed a little which made me smile, and it was actually cold for part of the week! We stayed home for the most part, running errands here and there. There was the amusing incidents at Lowe's where Peggy was trying to pick out an area rug. But you really would have had to have been there. Between Kelly crawling up the scaffolding and the floor sales rep, the trip was a riot. Annie and I were trying to set Peggy and floor guy up, but in end I think he was actually gay...bummer. Most men just aren't that into lamps and rugs...at least none that I know. : ) The whole trip was a blast, and I found myself wondering if I should move back, but as I've told everyone...life is wonderful when you have absolutely no responsibilities. I did however run a slumber party for four girls between the ages of 12 and 15...that was an adventure. I have a hard time believing that I was ever that energetic, but I'm sure I was at some point. It was absolute craziness. Lots of giggling, running around, dressing up, makeup, it was a real slumber party. But everyone had to go to bed by midnight to which there was much rejoicing on my part.

So yeah if you want more details then you'll just have to call me. I'm back in the south waiting for winter to get here, although I'm afraid that it's already turning to spring. Life is pretty much the same, and if it changes I'll let you know!

Mo. Researchers Find Largest Prime Number By GARANCE BURKE, Associated Press Writer
Tue Jan 3, 10:09 PM ET

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Researchers at a Missouri university have identified the largest known prime number, officials said Tuesday.

The team at Central Missouri State University, led by associate dean Steven Boone and mathematics professor Curtis Cooper, found it in mid-December after programming 700 computers (There are children starving in Africa and these people acquired 700 computers????? Just to find the largest prime number?) years ago.

A prime number is a positive number divisible by only itself (thank you for the math lesson...) and 1 — 2, 3, 5, 7 and so on.

The number that the team found is 9.1 million digits long (really the point please...I'm waiting!). It is a Mersenne prime known as M30402457 — that's 2 to the 30,402,457th power minus 1 (Okay, today children we're going to start counting to M30402457, if we start now maybe your great great great to the M30402457th power grandchildren can finish for us!).

Mersenne primes are a special category expressed as 2 to the "p" power minus 1, in which "p" also is a prime number.

"We're super excited," (Yeah he was beaming...and jumping up and down like he had just won an all expenses paid trip to Mars...)said Boone, a chemistry professor. "We've been looking for such a number for a long time."

The discovery is affiliated with the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search, a global contest using volunteers who run software that searches for the largest Mersenne prime.

Okay...really is there any real scientific benefit to the world for this discovery? And if numbers are really infinite, why are we so excited about this one, since another 36 trillion numbers away is the next one perhaps a Z95666754321 or something....we need to find a cure for cancer amongst other things and there are people looking for some odd number...this is a crazy world we live in...

Today is my first normal day in over two weeks...it's been a little rough. I was home for Christmas, and then Ruthanne was here all week. It was so much fun! I need to have friends out here more often...wink wink nudge nudge....more later...need to go get screaming children...

Goose rescued from frozen lake
By RACHAEL BOSSOW, Times Staff Writer

A lucky goose was rescued by Leavenworth animal control officers and members of the Leavenworth fire department on Monday after becoming frozen to the surface of Jerry’s Lake (we should find Jerry and yell at him!) off Pennsylvania Street.

According to resident Janice Langham, she noticed the goose while on her way to run errands (I notice geese all the time on my way to work...) and called the police for assistance.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this,” (And it won't be the last!) said Leavenworth Animal Control Officer Cindy Dressler.

Firefighters sprayed the surface of the lake with water to loosen the goose, (How loose is your goose? My goose is totally loose!) which then flew to the opposite side of the lake but had difficulty walking. (Then the firefighters widdled customized leg braces out of nearby brush and presented them to the goose. They then made a deal for the the new Wildlife Miracle Network telethon to be aired next fall with Gabby goose as the official poster goose) The firefighters then stretched a long rope across the lake to corral the goose onto land.

The goose’s mate stayed by her side while she was being rescued. (Wow now that is committment!!!)

Another quality news story from good ole Leavenworth. This one actually was worth reading, the poor bird! Can you imagine walking along and then suddenly getting stuck to ice, and it's not like she was wearing shoes...that must have sucked! Maybe I should write a story about Gabby Goose, it could be my next story for my writing class. Just thought I'd share...gotta go break up a kiddie fight!

Snuffleupagus
You scored 39% Organization, 61% abstract, and 49% extroverted!
This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are somewhat organized, both concrete and abstract, and both introverted and extroverted.

I bet you didn't think you were Snuffleupagus. Let's find out why.

You are both somewhat organized. You have a good idea where you put things and you probably keep your place reasonably clean. You aren't totally obsessed with neatness though. Alloyius Snuffleupagus (and all Snuffleupagus') is not sloppy by nature, but he moves so incredibly slowly that it is impossible for him to be totally organized.

You both are about equally concrete and abstract thinkers. You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren't afraid to explore your dreams and desires... within limits of course. Snuffy generally has very basic interests, but he explores his abstract sensitive side when he plays his snuffleflute.

You both are somewhat introverted. Originally Snuffleupagus was very shy and was only Big Bird's invisible friend. However as he has aged he has started to build new friendships with new characters. Like Snuffy, you probably like to have some time to yourself. However, you do appreciate spending time with your friends, and you aren't scared of social situations.

The other possible characters are
Oscar the Grouch
Big Bird
Cookie Monster
Ernie
Elmo
Kermit the Frog
Grover
The Count
Guy Smiley
Bert

If you enjoyed this test, I would love the feedback! Also if you want to tell me your favorite Sesame Street character, I can total them up and post them here. Perhaps your choice will win!

Your brain: 140% interpersonal, 80% visual, 140% verbal, and 40% mathematical!
Congratulations on being 400% smart! Actually, on my test, everyone is. The above score breaks down what kind of thinking you most enjoy doing. A score above 100% means you use that kind of thinking more than average, and a score below 100% means you use it less. It says nothing about how good you are at any one, just how interested you are in each, relatively. A substantial difference in scores between two people means, conclusively, that they are different kinds of thinkers.

Matching Summary: Each of us has different tastes. Still, I offer the following advice, which I think is obvious:

  1. Don't date someone if your interpersonal percentages differ by more than 80%.
  2. Don't be friends with someone if your verbal percentages differ by more than 100%.
  3. Don't have sex with someone if their math percentage is over 200%.
