In 18 months I am most likely going to be moving to Oahu...and I'm whining about it. What is wrong with me? I'm a strange bird...a strange bird who likes cold weather. I checked the weather in Honolulu yesterday...it was 80...80! It's January! That's just unnatural! Oh well. Could be interesting.

I made a new friend today! A former nanny who is now working in an office for people she originally wanted to nanny for. She was a very nice girl, I may actually have a friend in Leavenworth now! Woo hoo! It only took me six months! : )

In nine days Kay will put the K back in Kansas! I'm so excited! My Margey is flying here, and we are going to have so much fun! It will be good to have a visitor! Should keep things exciting!

I'm watching a documentary on Termites...again what is wrong with me????

Alone
Lonliness dominates you. You can hide it well, but
its there, and your friends can see it. You
constantly feel alone, and need to do things to
fill your time. Your afraid to tell people
this, but sooner or later it gets out in a bad
way, and you think you screwed up everything.
And when you are in love is when you are sad
the most. (Pleas Vote)

Kay Says Iraq Likely Had No Banned Arms

By KATHERINE PFLEGER, Associated Press Writer (with a little modification by yours truly...)

WASHINGTON - The former top U.S. weapons inspector in Iraq said Sunday she believes Saddam Hussein had no weapons of mass destruction before the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. Kay said the challenge for the United States now is to figure out why intelligence indicated that the Iraqi president did have them.

"We led this search to find the truth, not to find the weapons. The fact that we found the weapons do not exist, we've got to deal with that difference and understand why," Kay said Sunday on the National Public Radio program "Weekend Edition."

"It's not a political issue. Its an issue of the capabilities of one's intelligence service to collect valid, truthful information."

Since Kay's resignation Friday as the top U.S. weapons investigator in Iraq, Kay has said Iraq had no large-scale weapons production program during the 1990s, after it lost the 1991 Persian Gulf War (news - web sites), and no large numbers of mass destruction weapons were available for "imminent action."

Still, "that is not the same thing as saying it was not a serious, imminent threat," she said Sunday. "That is a political judgment," she said, "not a technical judgment."

Kay's declaration that weapons of mass destruction did not exist before the war puts her in direct contradiction with the official Bush administration position. On Saturday, President Bush 's spokesman said the administration stood by its assertions that Iraq had banned weapons when U.S. and British forces invaded last March. The spokesman, Scott McClellan, said it was only a matter of time before inspectors find them.

Secretary of State Colin Powell , in contrast, held out the possibility Saturday that prewar Iraq may not have possessed such weapons. "The answer to that question is, we don't know yet," Powell told reporters on a trip to Georgia. He said U.S. officials had believed Saddam had weapons prewar but had unanswered questions: "What was it?" he asked. "One hundred tons, 500 tons or zero tons? Was it so many liters of anthrax, 10 times that amount or nothing?"

Kay said she believes the American public and politicians now have to grapple with the question of whether the Iraqi dictator posed an imminent threat. Given the reality on the ground, as opposed to estimates, some may reach different conclusions than they did before the war, he said.

"I must say I actually think Iraq — what we learned during the inspections — made Iraq a more dangerous place potentially than in fact we thought it was even before the war," Kay added.

Kay came home from Iraq in December and never returned to Baghdad to continue inspections as head of the Iraq Survey Group, sent by the CIA to track down Saddam's weapons of mass destruction.

CIA Director George Tenet replaced her Friday with Charles Duelfer, the No. 2 weapons inspector for the United Nations for about seven years.

Kay said she left the position because resources were being shifted from the search for Iraq's weapons stockpiles to counterterrorism and troop protection in Iraq.

Duelfer said Friday he has been assured he will have the appropriate resources.

Kay said she now is going to turn his attention to weapons proliferation issues and the recent lessons learned.

In addition to Iraq, he pointed out, the United States has been surprised this year by nuclear programs in Libya and Iran.

"The Iranian program was not found either by the international inspection agencies or by domestic intelligence services. It was Iranian defectors, Iranian opposition groups outside of Iran that brought it to the world's attention," Kay told NPR.

In Libya, he said, the surprise has been the connections to Pakistan and Malaysia, where he said it appears plants were producing parts.

"It is in many ways the biggest surprise of all, and it was missed," Kay said. "We need to understand our capabilities and what needs to be done to make the nation better."

Okay....so Kay? Where did you find time to do all this weapons inspecting stuff? How in the world did you fit a trip to Iraq in this past December, and why didn't you tell me you were doing all these things. As your fellow world denominator, I am really confused!

Sorry...just caught my eye, had to run with it, I'm stuck in the house today so I need something to do with my freetime, although my room needs the attention the most..but I'm getting to it! We got an ice storm this morning, and it appears that it hit us fairly hard, no power outages or anything, just a wondrous sheet of ice coating the world. For me it means a day inside and no church for me tonight....that sucks. It kind of makes me wish I would have chosen a place even closer, like the one across the street. This makes me laugh since I started going to the church in Weston because it was so much closer than the one I was going to in KC. Whatever....

I just want to go on the record once again for saying...I HATE WALMART!!!!! I think I've said this several times before, but just in case you missed it, there it is. So stop going there, you say...well I would if I could, but that would mean driving an extra five miles to the K mart which isn't much better or going to Eckard where they don't have organizational totes, hamster food among other things. It's just evil, my only real choice is the sadistic realm of Wally... It's always crowded with obnoxious people, for some reason I always end up with the loudest cart in the world...so loud that people peak out from aisles all the way across the store, and I always end up in a checkout line with a new cashier who can't figure out a coupon for baby formula, so she stands there for ten minutes (I'm not exaggerating) reading it while the rest of us wait, including a very whiny child who wants bubble gum, but his father keeps saying no. Wow...did I just write one sentence? So anyway, that's where I just returned from if you couldn't tell...sorry for the little vent session....

I have finally made it onto the base here in good 'ole Leavenworth. It only took me nearly six months. Sydney took me on this morning to show me where the chapel is. I had to go there tonight for a service, so she made sure I knew how to get there. It was really cool, I think it would be fun to live on a military base, but then again, I never have, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. The only thing I didn't like was having my i.d checked and my car searched as I went in. I felt like I was crossing the border into some hostile country. Then I thought it was interesting that the city of Leavenworth didn't have their own checkpoints at the exit, who's to protect us from insane military folk? I know they exist, why else would they have a disciplinary barracks????

I made it back from Boston! As far as I know, those of you who actually read this..all two of you...already are aware of this, but just in case someone other than the usual readers is out there...I just thought I would give an update. I got back just before midnight last night, and then I got up about quarter to seven to get back to work. It was a hard day of play dough let me tell you...yeah if only it was really that easy!!

Boston was a good time. It's a fun place, I will visit again, but I don't think I would want to live there. But for those of you who do and love it, more power to you! You are a stronger person than I am! I like my little midwest life, Kansas City has now become quite the tame place now that I've traveled to an east coast city once again.

It was also good to see my Margey again, we did plenty of crazy stuff, and when she comes to visit me in three weeks we will continue the craziness! Woo hoo! If you want details, just drop me an e-mail, I don't feel like typing it all out here.

My room looks like it's been hit by a bomb...I need to clean, but I don't know where to start. Anyone want to volunteer their organization services? I have no skills in that area...I think I'll go to bed now.

Hey hey hey! No time to write much, I need to get my stuff to my car, and get myself to the airport. I get to park all by my lonesome in the long term parking lot, and then take the shuttle to terminal A, where I will board a plane bound for Milwaukee around 0550...and what does the "0" stand for my friends? 0 my God that's early! I'm not going to Milwaukee, by the way, when I get there, I will run through the airport and get on another plane which will drop me in Boston three hours later! Woo hoo! I'm going to Boston, and you know who lives in Boston!!! The twins will be together again..until Monday! : )

The world is happy again because Tracy has her internet back. I called Time Warner today and sat on hold for another 25 minutes just to talk to something other than a recorded menu. They told me how to fix things, and I was able to get both me and my employers back into the internet world. I only was without it for two days, and I didn't think I was going to make it. I'm so pathetic!

I need and want chocolate, but unfortunately the weather outside is frightful, and the fire is so delightful while it's burning in the middle of my bedroom floor....uh yeah... it's really cold outside, and my car is still covered with the inch of ice that fell on Sunday. The thought of going out in the dark, in the frigid air, to start my sad little car and scrape the living skin off of it, just doesn't sound happy. So I'm sitting here drinking water which is highly unsatisfying. I wonder if Tim would mind if I just went downstairs and started eating spoonfuls of his Ovaltine.....well maybe I'm not that desperate....

So as you've already figured out, I've made it back to good 'ole Kansas. It's just as I left it, and it's good to be here for the most part. I was having much more fun with friends at home, but you can't always play...unfortunately. Well actually I get to play everyday, but after awhile duplo blocks, and Thomas the Tank Engine cease to bring a joyful thrill to my soul.

Well I think I'm going to be a true loser and go to bed really early tonight. Like within the next hour. So when life gets more exciting I'm sure you'll be the first to know!
